POLITE NOTEǃ
When in the Church, before and after Mass, let us please maintain silence or, when it is unavoidable, to keep noise to a minimum. Let us respect those who like to have silent prayer before and right after the Mass. Greet and chat in the porch, but once we have passed the glass double doors, remember we are in a sacred space. Thank you for your understanding.
OCTOBER THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
The best way to celebrate the month is to pray the Rosary privately and communally. All the Saturdays in October, from 1:30pm to 4:45pm we will expose the Blessed Sacrament, during which the community will spend time in adoration and saying rosary.
Why is it that on October 7th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary? In 1571 AD a mighty Moslem fleet intended to conquer Europe was on its way. The Pope called on all the faithful to pray rosary every day. On October 7, 1571, a great victory was won by a small Christian Catholic naval force. We know today that this victory, prevented the Islamic invasion of Europe, and evidenced the hand of God working through Our Lady.
At Saint Mary Major Basilica in Rome, close to the tomb of St. Pope Pius V, one was once able to view an Islamic flag from that Battle, until 1965, when it was returned to Istanbul in an intended friendly token of concord. Let us dedicate this year’s month of the rosary in praying for peace in the Holy Land and Ukraine. Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for us!

PARISH BANK NAME: RCAS Sittingbourne
Sort Code: 60-19-25 Account: 55861970
Last year we had a very successful food bank and were able to help many families in need. This year might be even harder for some in our parish and local community. If you are able, could we ask for your generosity to be extended again this year. Any non-perishable items would be gratefully received. Please leave them in the porch.
We also have a parishioner who is visiting the homeless on the streets in Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Faversham. They are in need of toiletries, socks, scarves, sleeping bags etc. Equally, if you are struggling and in need, you can contact Fr Arbo in confidence. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Please leave any donations in the porch or in the office. |
